In this study weaddress scheduling the assignments ofthe residents and the senior academic staff toout- patien t clinics (OCs)inaphysical medicine and rehabilitation (PMR)dep artment.The current schedules are prepared manually. The department isnot satisfiedwith the schedules because offrequent changes and incapabilities in handling the preferences ofthe resident s.Wepropose ahierarchical goal program- ming (HGP)model toaddress these issues.Our proposed model reduces the frequent chan ges within monthly schedules, allow the residents towork with different specialists until their graduation,satisfies the preferences ofthe residents and conforms with the requirements ofthe department.Problems ofreal- istic size can besolved tooptimality inareasonable amount oftime
